The 3 Shoe Styles Every Woman Should Own, According to Manolo Blahnik Himself
While we’re always fans of affordable fashion, there are certainly a few expensive pieces that are worth the investment. When purchasing timeless wardrobe essentials, it's often worth it to spend a little more at the outset for something that will become a staple and last for years to come. One such item? Shoes. Not only do high-quality shoes last longer, but they’re also often more comfortable than cheaper alternatives, given the fact that a higher price tag usually translates to better craftsmanship.
Amongst the many famous shoe brands out there, one in particular is always on the forefront. A favourite of fashion girls everywhere from our editors to Carrie Bradshaw, we're talking about none other than Manolo Blahnik. For decades, the brand’s shoes have been lauded for being not only some of the most stylish on the market, but also for their long lifespan and comfort factor. But when choosing a pair of shoes to invest in, it may be difficult to determine which styles are worth the cost. Thankfully the icon himself, Manolo Blahnik, broke it down for us in an interview with Glamour back in 2015. Though the interview is a few years old, his advice is still just as relevant as ever.—whether or not Manolos are within your budget. According to the shoe designer, “the three shoes [every woman needs] are flats to walk, heels to walk, and maybe two or three court shoes. Those are the three shoes you should possess!”
We can’t deny that these words of wisdom still ring true… a flat pair, heels you can walk in, and shoes to impress, what more could you need? And no matter how much you spend, we guarantee you'll get tons of wear out of each. If you’re missing out on one of these essential styles (or if your collection could just use an update), you’re in luck. Below we’ve rounded up some of our favourite picks at every price-point based on Manolo Blahnik’s advice regarding these three must-have styles. Keep scrolling to see them yourself and shop a pair—or two—if that’s where you’re at today.
Flat Shoes
Heels you can walk in
We're all for wedge heels right now, and the PVC straps are so 2018.
Kitten heels are back in style, which is wonderful considering how much more comfortable they are for everyday wear.
Hello yellow! Block heels make for pain-free trek, whether to your favourite brunch spot or buzzing around the city.
Statement Court Shoes
These look so much more expensive than they actually are.
Now that you'll be adding these styles to your wardrobe, it's the perfect time to put these shoe organisation tips to good use.
