The Unexpected Shoe Trend Making a Major Comeback
Sponsor Content Created With Crocs
The ugly-pretty shoe trend has been around for the last few seasons in a variety of iterations, from clunky sandals to rubber platforms. But it seems like we’ve hit the apex of this street style phenomenon, as Crocs are now the mark of an It girl. It’s true—cool girls everywhere are incorporating the utilitarian silhouette into their wardrobes and giving them a fresh twist by styling them with elevated modern pieces.
Lesley Murphy of The Road Les Traveled and Julia Dzafic of Lemon Stripes are two of these women. Murphy (who you may recognize as a former reality television star) is a travel neophyte who uses her experiences everywhere from Patagonia to Thailand to Argentina to dictate her sophisticated bohemian style. On the other hand, Dzafic, a Connecticut resident with expertise in cooking, home décor, and fashion is known for her clean, preppy approach. Below, Murphy and Dzafic #RockWhiteCrocs in their own unique ways that will convince you that Crocs are back and cooler than ever. Keep scrolling to see the looks.
Murphy is constantly jet-setting, so comfort is key for her, but she also likes to stay on trend. “I say white all day, ever day—even after Labor Day,” she advises. “Not only will you earn major style points for thinking outside the box, your feet will also be blister-free. Win-win.”
Don’t quite know how to style Crocs? Murphy’s got it down pat. “Pair them with white skinny jeans and a chunky sweater for a relaxed look,” she explains. “Or any daytime dress—mini, midi, or maxi—with a sweater tied around the waist.” Noted.
Dzafic knows that outfits don’t work without confidence. “Walking around in clothing or shoes that hurt or force you to constantly be fidgeting is never fun,” she says. “And I hope we’ve all collectively agreed that confidence is the best accessory. Personally, when I’m comfortable, I’m way more confident.”
Like Dzafic, pair your Crocs with skinny jeans and a striped button-down for a fresh off-duty look.
Don’t be afraid to pair your Crocs with elevated designer pieces for an unexpected but aesthetically pleasing high/low pairing.
