Welcome to Your Winter Travel Checklist: 11 Essentials for a Stylish Trip
Over the summer, it seemed like everyone was either on the beaches of Italy or the streets of France. Now, it seems like every person on my Instagram feed has been hitting the slopes. The trend even continues in the market, with cool-girl brands like Khaite and Miu Miu launching après-ski-inspired pieces. And while I wasn't able to have my European summer, I do plan on making a trip out to Catskills or Aspen this winter. (TwoBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing editors were in Aspen this week, so talk about an on-trend destination.)
While my first priority is to stay warm, I'm not knocking style off the to-do list. After you've already checked off ski boots and helmets, your clothes might be just as important as the actual sporty equipment. Below, I've rounded up all the essentials I think everyone should have on their winter trip. And whether you're actually planning on taking part in snow sports or would much rather cozy up in the cabin, the items on this list will keep you warm and well-dressed.
Thermals
This may be a "boring" fashion item, but it's necessary. Every winter, Uniqlo's HeatTech products are flying off the shelves. For optimal layering, make sure these are packed first.
Cozy Scarf or Shawl
When the weather is freezing, it's hard not to daydream about being cuddled up in your bed. Having a cozy wrap or scarf is the next best thing to a portable blanket.
Hydrating Beauty Products
Harsh winter weather can wreak havoc on one's skin, so make sure you stock up on hydrating products that can keep irritation and dryness at bay. A personal favorite of mine has been Glossier's After Baume which was awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance™.
Cozy Set
Keep outfit ideas easy with knit matching sets in tow. Plus, you can mix and match so you'll have additional outfit ideas without extra weight in your suitcase.
Puffer
Not everyone has a Miu Miu puffer ski suit in their closet, but a stylish puffer jacket is a tad more attainable.
Versatile Coat
If your winter trip is less sporty and more elevated, a chic coat should be your outerwear of choice. Don't underestimate the power of a quality wool coat, you'll be a lot warmer than you look.
Cashmere or Wool Sweater
Traveling in the cold is no time to skip out on quality knitwear.
Chunky Boots
You may have already rented or bought a pair of ski boots, but don't forget stylish stompers. The chunkier the platform, the better.
Thick Leggings
I made the mistake of packing regular leggings once on a snowboarding trip and never want to feel my legs go numb ever again. Don't make my mistake and invest in a pair of plush or fleece-lined leggings.
Ribbed Socks
Another boring but necessary staple. Trust me, your feet will thank you.
Knit Hat
It's hard to really have an "outfit" to show off with all the winter layers. This is the time to play with your accessories. While a knit hat is needed to provide warmth, you should play with colors or prints to add a pop to your bundled ensmeble.
