I Always Get Compliments When I Wear This Foundation (and Rosie HW Uses It Too)
Last month saw the launch of a brand-new foundation, and I've been wearing it nonstop since. In fact, it seems to be the product of the moment with beauty editors, theBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing team and celebs like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Hailey Bieber, who have both stepped out wearing it.
Even better, basically every time I wear it, I get a compliment on my skin—and that's saying something for a girl who is facing some serious acne breakouts right now.
The foundation in question is the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick (£29). The brand's very first foundation in stick form, it's a clean, water-based liquid formula that glides onto the skin to brighten, conceal and protect from the sun with SPF 25. Plus, it's oil-free and non-comedogenic (meaning it won't clog your pores), so while it works for all skin types, it's a really great option if you're prone to breakouts.
Traditionally, I've found stick foundation formulations quite tricky to work with. They tend to be quite hard to blend, can look cakey on the skin and often accentuate breakouts and fine lines rather than cover them. From the first use, I was so impressed with the way that this BareMinerals foundation stick melted into my skin. No, it won't cover everything entirely—you can see in the photo above that my natural skin is still shining through—but it helps my skin to look so much brighter and healthier.
It's available in a fairly decent 20 shades (I'm wearing Birch 1.5, FYI), meaning that not only does it work as a foundation, but can also be used as a concealer and contour product. Genius.
I've even managed to convert my colleague Alyss Bowen to the foundation after she asked what I was wearing on my skin last week. She loved it so much that she chose it for a wedding at the weekend.
"I like that it's buildable and doesn't feel cakey on the skin at all," Alyss explained. "And it lasted all day at a wedding."

After an event with BareMinerals in Munich this week, Rosie's makeup artist Florrie White took to Instagram to give a full breakdown on Rosie's gorgeous makeup look above. Of course, the main star of the show was the BareMinerals foundation, which White used to prep the skin and even out Rosie's complexion.

The foundation that everyone is obsessed with right now. I scribble it straight onto my skin and then buff it out with a kabuki brush.
A surprise foundation that people always ask me about is this affordable one from Drew Barrymore's makeup range. It offers both coverage and radiance, and I'm always really happy with how my skin looks after using this.

This is definitely more of a skin tint than a foundation, but this is what I gravitate towards on laid-back weekends when I want to even out my skin tone and boost luminosity but I'm not bothered about covering anything up.
I think of this as my little black dress of the foundation world—it does exactly what you want a foundation to do (evens skin tone, conceals things that you want to hide and looks natural). I know I can always rely on it. So much so that I wore this on my wedding day.
Despite its name, I still consider this my full coverage foundation. I apply this when I'm going to be out all day—whether at the office, out at meetings and at post-work events. It stays put but never looks cloying or cakey. I much prefer it to the original heavy-duty version.
Next up, Victoria Beckham just revealed the one product she always uses on her eyebrows.
