Take It From Me: These Body Sprays Are the Most Affordable Way to Smell Expensive

I'm not trying to boast, but I get a lot of compliments on how I smell.
From strangers on the train to my fellowBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK editors, barely a day goes by when someone doesn't ask me what perfume I'm wearing, and they're surprised to hear that usually I'm not wearing a perfume at all, but in fact, it's a luxury body spray.
As someone who works in beauty, I have to admit that I own a lot of fragrances. From heavier ouds to lighter florals and sweet gourmand scents, I've invested in many luxury fragrances over the years. And although I love them all, I don't love the dent they leave in my bank account. Luckily for me, a growing number of luxury perfume houses are now offering some of their most popular scents in the form of (much more affordable) body sprays.
Whilst eau de parfums and eau de toilettes will always have a place on my dressing table because of their stronger staying power, as I start thinking about my lineup of spring perfumes, body mists have an undeniable edge. These lightweight mists are better suited to warmer weather, not to mention that they're more affordable, easy to layer and convenient to take with you on the go.
So, whether you're looking to get your hands on a cult scent for less, prefer a more delicate perfume experience or desire a lighter perfume that won't be too overpowering as the weather warms up, I've rounded up the best luxury body sprays on the market right now. Trust me: I'm an expert in this.
The Best Luxury Body Sprays
1. Best Luxury Body Spray Overall: Jo Malone English Pear
Freesia Body Mist, £48
2. Best Long-Lasting Luxury Body Spray: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood Body Oil Spray, £85
3. Best Expensive-Smelling Body Spray: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Fresh Moisture Mist, £46
4. Best Floral Luxury Body Spray: Dior Miss Dior Silky Body Mist, £51
5. Best Sweet Luxury Body Spray: Phlur Vanilla Skin Body Mist, £25
1. Jo Malone London English Pear Freesia Body Mist
Best Overall Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Pear, melon, freesia, rose, musk, patchouli, rhubarb, amber
A lighter version of one of Jo Malone's most popular scents, the English Pear Freesia Body Mist is great for those looking for a subtle, fruity-floral everyday perfume to take on the go. It's also formulated with naturally derived glycerine and conditioning ingredients, which means it isn't drying to the skin but rather softens and conditions. I already own the cologne in this scent, so at almost a third of the price, I'll definitely be picking this up.
2. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Fresh Moisture Mist
Best Expensive-Smelling Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Orange, bergamot, rose, jasmine, white musk
Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume has solidified itself as a cult favourite, so it's no surprise that the body spray is just as popular. Unlike the slightly warmer and velvety EDP, the Coco Mademoiselle mist is a much fresher, clean-girl-type scent. With notes of orange, bergamot and musk, this expensive-smelling fragrance is sure to earn you loads of compliments.
3. Rare Beauty Find Comfort Body Hair Fragrance Mist
Best Daytime Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Lemon zest, pomelo, rhubarb, black tea, violet, jasmine, cashmere wood, vetiver, tonka
Known for its dewy blushes and flawless skin products, Rare Beauty has quickly become a super-popular brand amongst beauty experts. One of the newer launches that I think has been criminally overlooked is the Find Comfort Body Hair Fragrance Mist. With a blend of citrus fruits, fresh florals and tonka, it makes the perfect everyday fragrance.
4. Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry 48 All Over Body Spray
Best Evening Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Cherry, raspberry, bergamot, praline, heliotrope, Damask rose, jasmine sambac, palo santo, tonka bean, guaiac oood, Peru balsam, ambrettolide, patchoul, Haitian vetiver
The beauty industry is obsessed with cherry right now, from the revival of Clinique's Black Honey lipstick to skincare with cherry extracts, and the super-sweet scent is all over fragrance too. Kayali's Lovefest Burning Cherry 48 mixes classic fruity notes with smokier palo santo and Peru balsam for a sexier nighttime scent.
5. Fenty Fragrance Parfum Hair + Body Mist
Best Intense Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Blueberry, tangerine, Bulgarian rose, geranium, magnolia, patchouli, musk
Fenty Beauty's Hair and Body Mist is a lighter version of the brand's fragrance for everyday use. The heavier notes of patchouli, Bulgarian rose and musk have been toned down for a subtler mist that still maintains its staying power. The spicy-floral base makes for a gorgeous balance between typically "masculine" and "feminine" scents.
6. Phlur Vanilla Skin Body Mist
Best Sweet Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Sugar, pink pepper, apple, cashmere wood, jasmine, lily, vanilla, sandalwood, benzoin, agarwood
Since its launch in 2015, Phlur has been known amongst the fragrance-obsessed for its pared-back approach to creating perfumes. After releasing a number of skin-scent perfumes, the brand delved into body sprays at a significantly lower price point. I went to my local Space NK when they first launched and immediately fell in love with Vanilla Skin. A much more mature version of the classic vanilla body sprays we all loved as children, Vanilla Skin has a creamy yet woody profile that's suitable for any occasion.
7. Dior Miss Dior Silky Body Mist
Best Floral Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Mandarin orange, rose, jasmine, musk, patchouli
Arguably one of the most popular scents of all time, Dior's Miss Dior has branched out from its original EDP into body washes, creams and even solid jelly-like formulations for on-the-go perfume top-ups. Although the body spray is much more affordable than the EDP, it smells no different and lasts just as long as the original. So, if you're looking to get your hands on this iconic fragrance for less, I'd recommend giving this a try.
8. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood Scented Body Oil Spray
Best Skincare-Infused Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Bulgarian rose, violet, strawberry, Turkish rose, oud, vanilla, amber, benzoin, cedar, caramel
Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Oud Satin Mood body oil spray is priced slightly higher than other luxury body sprays on this list, but trust me when I say it's well worth it. Although it's technically a body oil, it comes in a spray bottle, allowing you to spritz it onto the skin as you please for a sweet, woody scent that lasts all day. I got this as a gift for Christmas 2023, and it's still going strong even though I use it most days. My only note is that, being an oil, the formula can stain certain fabrics, so be careful where you spritz.
9. Diptyque Do Son Body Mist
Best Tuberose Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: African orange flower, iris, rose, tuberose, pink pepper, musk, benzoin
Adored by the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss, as well as almost every beauty editor I've spoken to, Diptyque's Do Son perfume is a favourite for good reason. The heavier notes of tuberose, along with African orange flower and musk, give it a creamy yet fresh scent that's perfect for the warmer months.
10. Jo Loves Grapefruit a Fragrance Body Mist
Best Fruity Luxury Body Spray
Notes: Grapefruit, cedarwood, black pepper
If you love a crisp, citrusy scent for spring and summer, you need to try Jo Loves Grapefruit a Fragrance Body Mist. It only features three notes: grapefruit, cedarwood and black pepper, but its beauty lies in this simplicity. Perfect for layering or wearing on its own, this fruity fragrance is sure to brighten up your day.
11. Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 59 Body Fragrance Mist
Best Affordable Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Vanilla orchid, sugar, violet, sandalwood
It's no secret that we love Sol De Janeiro perfume mists here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK. They're long-lasting and inoffensive, making them ideal for gifting to yourself or others. One of the brand's newest launches has quickly made its way to the top of our list. Cheirosa 59 is an oriental-vanilla scent that leaves a powdery finish on the skin.
12. Ouai St Barts Hair and Body Mist
Best Tropical Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Pitahaya, orange oil, tuberose, orange blossom, Moroccan jasmine, amber, musk, sea notes
Ouai is mainly known for its amazing hair products (we're big fans of the Ouai Hair Oil), but it also has a great fragrance range that minimalists will love. The St Barts Hair and Body Mist is a blend of orange oil, Moroccan jasmine and sea notes. There's something fun about this fragrance, but it doesn't feel too out there. If you're someone who usually shies away from overpowering scents, don't let the sweet scent profile intimidate you—it's gorgeous.
13. Tom Ford Soleil Blanc All Over Body Spray
Best Holiday Luxury Body Spray
Key notes: Pistachio, bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper, tuberose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, coconut, amber, tonka bean, benzoin
Tom Ford fragrances sit at the higher end of the luxury-perfume scale, so the body sprays are a great choice if you want to experience the brand's scents without breaking the bank. Soleil Blanc is a tropical-floral fragrance that evokes the tropical islands of a far-flung holiday, featuring notes of coconut, cardamom and pistachio.
14. Ellis Brooklyn Sand Fragrance Body Mist
Best Under-the-Radar Luxury Body Mist
Key notes: Coconut milk, pink pepper, Sicilian bergamot, benzoin, lily, ginger, jasmine, vanilla absolute, musk, sandalwood
It feels like everyone is looking for a niche perfume to make their signature scent nowadays, and although popular cult favourites will always have a place on my dressing table, I can't help but be intrigued by a scent that will allow me to smell unique. Enter Ellis Brooklyn's Sand Fragrance Body Mist, which is described as a "personal fragrance" that features notes of ginger, benzoin, Sicilian bergamot and coconut milk.
What Is a Body Spray?
The main difference between eau de parfum (EDP), eau de toilette (EDT) and body sprays lies in their fragrance oil concentration, which affects their intensity and longevity. EDPs have the highest perfume oil concentration of the three (usually between 15-20%), which makes them richer and perfect for all-day wear with a staying power of six to eight hours and sometimes even longer.
EDTs are slightly lighter, usually lasting anywhere between three and six hours. This is because they have a lower concentration of 5-15% fragrance oil. Body sprays have the lowest longevity (around one to three hours), as their oil concentration typically doesn't rise above 5%. This, however, makes them easier to layer, more adjustable to hot weather and a great choice for those looking for a more subtle and understated signature scent.
What Are the Benefits of a Body Spray?
When it comes to choosing a fragrance, body sprays are often overlooked. However, there are many benefits to choosing a body spray over your regular perfume. With most luxury scents priced from £100 up, a body spray is a great way to enjoy a high-end fragrance experience without having to splash out.
Even if you still decide to invest in an EDP or EDT, a body spray iteration of the same scent in a much more economical way to take on the go and boost your perfume throughout the day. The lighter composition of a body spray also makes it better suited to those who prefer a softer scent for everyday use.
Finally, as we head into the warmer months, heat can cause the molecules in your fragrance to break down quicker, which can alter the scent profile and lead to a distorted smell. The lower perfume oil concentration in a body spray will adjust better to your natural body temperature than a heavier scent and leave you smelling fresher for a lot longer.
