This Kylie Jenner Loved Skincare Staple Instantly Soothes My Sensitive, Acne-Prone Skin
My biggest issue as a beauty editor is having super-sensitive skin. As someone who loves testing various skincare and makeup products, it can be a real problem if I don't vet the ingredients beforehand. Recently, the curious cat stirred in me when I saw Kylie Jenner reach for a buzzy skincare brand I've heard nothing but good things about from other editors and, it just so happens, Love Island USA star Leah Kateb in an interview recently. Hydrinity, as you can probably guess from the name, is a brand all about hydration and skin regeneration. Its star ingredient includes a supercharged form of hyaluronic acid that helps repair even the most compromised skin—accelerating the healing process tenfold while delivering supreme moisture.
Like I said, I'm a sensitive-skin girlie, so I have to really watch what I use, but I couldn't help giving this one a try, because the ingredients looked great. Each product seemed to have a pretty simple formulation that wouldn't trigger any breakouts or redness for me, so I figured it couldn't hurt to give the brand a spin. So far, I've been more than impressed. My skin barrier has been compromised for ages, unfortunately, which always leads to a host of other problems, but with long-term use, this brand could be the holy grail I've been waiting for. Keep scrolling for my thoughts.
This product is the one having a moment among celebs. At first, I was wary because I thought, Another hypochlorous acid spray? But I was more than happy to be proved wrong. TBH, my skin is so sensitive I had to stop using a hypochlorous acid spray once because it was irritating my skin. This formula, however, is super gentle, skin microbiome friendly and anti-inflammatory. While my breakouts have calmed down significantly over the past few months, I still get the occasional red bump, and it's aggravating. This spray is the perfect prep step to use after cleansing to calm the skin. While my breakouts have calmed down, my skin is still exhibiting signs of stress, and this has almost an instant effect on redness. Jenner also uses it in her routine, and I fully see why—it's a powerhouse for angry-looking bumps. It even can work well for psoriasis, eczema, and rosacea.
This microbiome-friendly purifying mist features hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a potent antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent that works overtime to treat blemishes, renew compromised skin, and deeply calm even the most stressed and sensitive skin types—including those prone to eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea. Used by dermatologists worldwide, this lightweight yet powerful mist is renowned for its wound-healing abilities.
This is the other product from the brand I was most curious about because Kateb told me it's another favorite in a recent interview. Kateb has documented her own acne struggles on TikTok, so I figured it had to be good if she was a fan. When you're struggling with breakouts, barrier damage, and redness, it can be so hard to find the right kind of hydration for your skin. Heavier creams tend to cause more breakouts, but super-lightweight gel-consistency moisturizers aren't enough.
This serum is the perfect happy medium. It contains the brand's key hyaluronic acid complex, peptides, and antioxidants that help support supreme hydration in the skin. It's also designed to help skin recover and repair more quickly. I've dealt with skin-barrier damage for a while, and honestly, it's proving harder to heal than I originally thought, but after using this for a couple of weeks, I've noticed a difference. My skin is a lot softer, and the texture of it has improved massively. It's also a noncomedogenic formula, so it never feels like it just sits on top of the skin or gets greasy. You feel like you're fully absorbing all the skin nutrients you need, and like the Hyacyn Active Spray, it really takes down redness in the skin, soothing any active breakouts.
I've been wary of using a retinoid lately because my skin needed time to heal and repair. But this retinal serum is a great option for anyone with similar skin who still wants to reap the benefits of using a vitamin A derivative. Retinal is a personal favorite ingredient because it's one of the gentlest and most effective options on the market. The retinal in this formula is encapsulated in a biomimetic exosome, making its delivery method extremely on point—it's able to really penetrate into the skin so it can do what it needs to do.
My skin never felt irritated or dehydrated with this formula like it has when I've used other retinoids. It also gives you a subtle glow after just a few weeks of use.
The older I get, the more I realize a good eye cream is extremely key. If I don't use one, my eye cream tends to get super dry and exhibit signs of aging, but this one is a beautiful formula. It perks my eye area right up with collagen-boosting peptides, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory ingredients. The consistency is semi-rich but, like the brand's other products, absorbs so nicely into the skin and doesn't leave a heavy feeling.
If you struggle with hyperpigmentation or post-acne marks like I do, this serum is heaven-sent. I'm kind of lazy normally and don't like using a separate serum just for my dark spots, but trust me when I say this one is worth adding to your lineup.
It features an ingredient called hexylresorcinol, which helps to prevent future hyperpigmentation from forming while working to lift current dark spots using botanical AHAs, peptides, and maqui fruit extract. I noticed a difference in a few spots within a week, and I love the fact that it helps to keep other marks from forming.
Okay, if you're also a little bit lazy and really don't want to add an extra serum into your routine just for hyperpigmentation, this moisturizer is perfect for you. It's rich in vitamin C and kakadu plum extract, which also works to brighten the skin. Super hydrators like squalane, shea butter, and jojoba oil also perfectly moisturize my skin without leaving an uncomfortably greasy feeling. I also struggle with dehydration and it's hard to find a moisturizer that's enough without breaking me out, but this is it. Combined with the Restorative HA and Vivid Brightening Serum, the radiance is out-of-this-world good.
Usually, my sheet masks are of the Korean variety, but this one is equally impressive. In terms of ingredients, it does the most. It's packed with hydrators, probiotics, and epidermal growth factors to kick-start the skin's natural healing process. It's perfect for damaged or aging skin. I've only used them a few times, but it's another product that brings a lot of soothing and next-level hydration to the skin, so for that alone, I'm happy. I'm hoping with long-term use, I'll see even more results. A pack of five is $120, which isn't exactly cheap, but again, if you have sensitive, barrier-damaged skin, it's well worth it to give your skin the healing ingredients it needs.
I never used to prioritize body serums until I became a beauty editor, but now I'm fully obsessed. Trust me when I say it's the step your bodycare routine has been missing. My skin tends to get dry and ashy if I don't use a body butter or lotion at all, but sometimes, even if I do, my still still feels extra thirsty. Fall and winter are when this problem hits its peak. Adding a body hydrator like this one to the mix is a game changer. It's also designed to firm and tighten the skin with the brand's supercharged hyaluronic acid. My skin feels baby soft after using it. Most days, it's so hydrating that I don't need to go in with a second lotion, but when I do combine it with something else, that's when the magic happens.
