I'm a 29-Year-Old Beauty Director—21 Items on My Wish List I Know You'll Love
Just when I think I've reached beauty-editor overload and will never be able to swipe another lipstick across my lips again (believe it or not testing beauty products every single day does leave you a little jaded!), I discover something so new and so magnificent that it completely reminds me how much I do, indeed, love my job. And, while my living quarters might be feeling a little overdosed in bottles and tubes and tinctures, I'm never not making room for just a few more soon-to-be-beloved formulas. Especially once fall rolls around.
Whether they've just launched or have been around for a while and I just have yet to try them, I'm sharing 21 beauty products that are currently on my wish list. More specifically, the specific products I'm eyeing at a handful of my favorite beauty retailers like Violet Grey, Sephora, and Dermstore. Keep scrolling for 21 beauty things I'm itching to try and make sure to check out our Violet Grey promo codes.
Violet Grey
I love a statement lip, especially for fall. This formula, in particular, from Chanel offers eight hours of bullet-proof wear, 12 hours of hydration, and the dreamiest colors. I'm eyeing Brun Orgueilleux—a moody bruised raisin.
Even though I have a lot of hair, it's extremely fine. Therefore, I can always use as much help as I can possibly get in the volume department. I'm obsessed with every single product I've tried from R+Co's sustainable Bleu line, and this pillowy mousse is next on my try list.
If you, like me, want to plunge your whole body into anything and everything palo santo, you'll also fall for this divine body balm from Aman. It's an anti-inflammatory blend that helps repair, nourish, protect, and soothe skin all while helping to stabilize collagen levels as well for a firmer, tighter, more elastic texture.
I cannot escape the buzz around this brand skin-resurfacing tonic from Eighth Day—literally everyone who's anyone in the beauty space is gasping over its professional chemical peel inspired effects. (In other words, expect smooth, ethereally glowy skin as a side effect.) In fact, it's so popular that it is sold out. Its strategic ingredients include lactic and glycolic acids, lentil seed, witch hazel, cucumber, and aloe.
For me and my fragrance wardrobe, the limit does not exist when it comes to rich, luxurious cozy scents. This one from Liis (sustainably made and packaged with recycled and compostable materials) is like a crackling fire, a good book, and an ultra-soft blanket, bottled. Think pear, ambrette, carrot seed, orris, ambroxan, and cashmere.
I'm the ultimate guinea pig when it comes to all things lip plumpers—after all, I love to play up my lips! I've been itching to try this newly Violet Code approved duo from Ourself. Part one is a serum that enhances the natural color, shape, and definition of your pout while infusing the skin with hyaluronic acid for extra moisture. Part two is a lip conditioner that adds a glide of glossy shine and even more hydration perks.
I love candles all year long, but something about fall makes the ritual even more special and magical. Recently, I've been drooling over Vyrao's Witchy Large Candle—it's stunning enough to be admired for its chic design alone, but I know I won't be able to resist the scent's "magical energy" composed of Moroccan orris, thorny rose, frankincense, patchouli, black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and musk. It's pricey, but it does grant a 90-hour burn time.
I have been so curious about this buzzy (freeze-dried!) hyaluronic acid serum from Saro de Rúe. It's unlike any other formula I've ever seen. It features a freeze-dried hyaluronic acid tablet and a separate activator that works harmoniously to feed the skin with moisture and plump fine lines while providing 72 hours of marathon-level moisture. Plus, the application process will make your skincare routine fun again: Using dry hands, take one spongy pill out of the foil pack, squeeze eight to ten drops of the Pure Activator over the tablet, and then watch it dissolve right before your eyes. Mix it with your fingertips before delicately pressing the formula into your face and neck.
A smoked-out gaze just hits different in the fall and winter, and while I've been a longtime fan of Posh's satiny-smooth liners, I'm looking to add a few new hues to my lineup. This sapphire blue is especially mesmerizing.
It seems like every brand right now is launching a skin tint, and while I've turned my nose up at most (sorry, just being honest) my love for Westman Atelier runs super deep and these complexion drops could not be more enticing. Skin-like, lightweight, and brimming with high-quality skincare actives, you're getting the best of so many worlds. It helps even out your skin tone while hydrating, soothing, and protecting your complexion against pollution and other environmental aggressors. It makes your skin look flawless instantly, yes, but it also helps troubleshoot any concerns you have in the long run too.
Sephora
I have a soft spot for Glow Recipe's adorable packaging, and the formulas are just as addictive. This potent (yet not irritating) eye cream is the brand's newest launch, and the 10% encapsulated vitamin C complex, niacinamide blend, and peptides work in harmony to brighten dark circles, hydrate, and depuff the eye area.
Hair perfumes are one of my favorite (albeit so underrated!) beauty products. I adore all things Gisou, so obviously, I can't wait to spritz my strands with this honey-infused elixir which leaves behind an extra hint of shine and a titch of pretty florals.
ICYMI, Tatcha has officially launched itself into the body care arena, and the brand's new body wash and body milk are the ultimate way to not only treat lackluster skin to some TLC but to de-stress and re-center thanks to the spa-esque scent and ingredient profile. (All thanks to the essential oil blend of hiba, cedar, and hinoki woods which contain phytoncides: chemical compounds emitted by trees and scientifically shown to increase well-being, according to the brand.) My skin gets extra rough and bumpy in the fall and winter, so I'm prioritizing the exfoliating bodywash, in particular.
Kosas has yet to launch a product I don't immediately go completely bonkers over, and I say that as someone who's typically very hard to impress. (Don't even get me started on the foundation and concealer—I could go on for hours!) So, obviously, I'm eager to test the brand's new spray-on serum which hydrates, soothes, firms, lifts, and plumps all in one go.
I could spend hours in Sephora's fragrance department—whether in person or online and while a few new scents have captured my full attention recently, Plur's Somebody Wood has me on the edge of my seat. The mix of saffron, sandalwood, amber, musk, bergamot, and cyclamen, is already creating pandemonium.
I've had an undying love for Amika's best-selling Perk Up Dry Shampoo for years, as it's truly one of the most effective (yet invisible) formulas on the market, IMO. This new version of the classic delivers gentle AHAs and scalp-nourishing ingredients to extend your time between washes even more. I'm supremely lazy when it comes to my hair, so this feels like a godsend.
I haven't been able to get this mascara from Milk Makeup out of my head ever since one of our contributors, Marie Lodi, waxed poetic about its lifting and curling powers. As a self-proclaimed mascara fiend, I need to try it—the suspense is killing me!
Dermstore
This anti-aging essence from CosRx has been getting a lot of love on TikTok, and weirdly it's one of the brand's only products I still have yet to try. My skin likes to keep me on my toes by throwing all sorts of tantrums once the weather shifts, so I already know this cult fave will do wonders for my complexion. The feather-light formula is enriched with panthenol to diminish wrinkles, breakouts, scars, and dehydrated skin. Plus, it contains 96% of the hero ingredient snail mucin, which is hailed for its potent repairing, hydrating, brightening, and toning abilities.
Sure, it might not be the most exciting beauty product to make my list, but as and complete dry-brush devotee, I'm tired of contorting my body every which way to get my back and other hard-to-reach areas. This long-handled model will come in handy for all my exfoliating and circulation-boosting needs this season and beyond.
I have recently become completely infatuated with SkinCeuticals' latest launch, the Phyto Correcitve Essence Mist. It's done wonders for my easy-to-flush, acne-prone, super-dry complexion, and now—obviously—I need to try everything within the brand's Phyto collection. This best-selling gel is #1 on my list as it's ultra-calming and noncomedogenic so it won't clog pores. The formula's hero ingredients include mulberry to fade the look of discoloration in addition to cucumber and thyme to keep even the most inflammatory of complexions calm, cool, and collected.
I'm trying to ween myself off my Latisse prescription, but I have become obsessed with the long, super-fluttery results. I've heard great things about this new brow and lash formula from Augustinus Bader which helps strengthen and revitalize the hair follicles for hair growth support.
