I Escaped to Boston for a Weekend—3 Chic J.Crew Outfits Perfect for New England Fall
Thanks, it's J.Crew—a phrase I repeated all weekend long while visiting my friends in Boston. It became a running bit that I only wear J.Crew, and while that isn't 100% true (I love a good Nordstrom find), there's no denying that my fall closet closely resembles a J.Crew showroom.
Before packing my carry-on and catching a train to Back Bay Station, I knew I needed some new versatile fall pieces. Think elevated basics, cashmere sweaters, everyday jeans, tailored trousers, and a warm wool coat to protect myself against the windy New England streets. It's safe to guess I made my way to my nearest J.Crew location and picked out a few of my favorites. Spoiler: I finally got my hands on a J.Crew roll-neck sweater, but which one? Scroll on to find out.
Below are the three J.Crew outfits I wore in Boston. From grabbing a cannoli from Mike's Pastry to shopping on Newbury Street (of course, I stopped at the new J.Crew Boston location) to sipping tea on a park bench in Boston Commons to making my friends try oysters for the first time at Neptune Oyster, I put these effortlessly chic J.Crew outfits to the test. Keep scrolling to shop the J.Crew pieces and see why I think they deserve a spot in your fall and winter 2025 outfit rotation.
Outfit 1
Argyle Cashmere Roll-Neck + Cuffed Wide-Leg Jeans
A J.Crew roll-neck has been on my fall and winter wish list for weeks. I had my heart set on the classic all-white knit, but once I saw the Brushed Cashmere Rollneck Sweater, I knew I had found the roll-neck of my dreams. I love the retro feel of the black-and-red argyle print. Once considered dated, the argyle trend has regained popularity thanks to the 2025 fashion person.
I paired the fuzzy, ridiculously soft sweater with Cuffed Lower-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans, which are easily the comfiest pair of denim I've ever worn. I'm wearing a size 25, which fits a bit wide at my waist but perfectly snug around my hips. As a 5'6" girlie, I found that the Classic length perfectly drapes around my ankles while sporting thin-soled sneakers, which is precisely what I expect from the best baggy denim. This look hits all the marks for me. It's chic, effortless, and comfortable—11/10, would wear again.

Outfit 2
White Tee + Striped Cashmere Sweater + Cuffed Wide-Leg Jeans
I reached for the wide-leg jeans once again, and this time, I wore them with a different sweater trend I've spotted on the fashion set: a striped crewneck. The Featherweight Cashmere Relaxed Crewneck Sweater is soft and lightweight, and ever since I spotted NYC It girls wearing white tees under their cashmere crewnecks, I've done the same. Layering adds another dimension to the casual nature of the look without making it seem overthought. The J.Crew Vintage Jersey Classic-Fit Crewneck T-Shirt is a quality basic perfect for fall and winter layering.
Even now that I'm back from Boston, I can't tell you how many times I've reached for these pieces. Either styled together or mixed and matched with items from my closet, these J.Crew buys truly are chic and versatile.

Outfit 3
White Tank + Cashmere Crewneck + Pleated Trousers + Wool Topcoat
I absolutely love a dark heather gray, so I doubled up on the hue for a monochrome 'fit. Here, you'll find the same layering hack used above. The vintage tee effortlessly peeks out from under the hem of the J.Crew Perfect Cashmere Crewneck Sweater, adding a much-needed pop of white to the otherwise dark-toned outfit. For pants, I opted for the Essential Wide-Leg Pant in an Italian Studio Wool Blend, and for a coat, I chose the Chiara Topcoat. These wool-blend additions add a touch of luxury to the look, making it the most elegant ensemble of the three.
I'm already planning to wear this exact tonal look to the office this week, and I'm preparing myself for compliments now. Shop the chic J.Crew outfit below.
