The NYFW Outfit Prep Has Begun—36 Standout Buys I'm Adding to My Lineup

(Mariah Carey voice) It's time! New York Fashion Week is almost upon us. It's hard to believe, especially since many of us are still feeling the lull of January's calm, but fashion month kicks off in only a matter of days with the shows beginning this Monday in Copenhagen and continuing on through early March. As for this editor who calls New York City home, I'm gearing up for the shows by doing what I do best: outfit planning. I've been gathering inspiration from across the internet, from the spring runways to my screenshot folder, and of course, I have been shopping accordingly.
As anyone who attends fashion week knows all too well, crafting the perfect outfit is a balance between tapping into key trends of the season and experimenting with new styling ideas while maintaining the comfort of your own personal style. It can be a tall order, which is why I always plan ahead and map out my outfits for the week. While my exact combinations are still coming together, I'm eyeing (and, in some cases, already buying) the below items to wear to and from the fall/winter 2025 shows in just a few weeks' time. Below, see every standout fashion item I'm adding to my lineup, from opera gloves to scarf coats.
A great coat isn't just one piece of the outfit puzzle—it is the outfit.
Layering with this hooded sweater would be so fun.
I just discovered this brand from stylist Hannah Lewis and immediately added so many things to my cart, starting with this zebra-print pencil skirt.
This Phoebe Philo esque leather jacket may very well be my next purchase.
Clearly inspired by the legging styling from the spring 2025 runways here.
Gloves are a nonnegotiable for any winter fashion week, but long opera gloves feel like anything but an afterthought.
I always do a substantial Zara order pre fashion week, and this fun styling piece is definitely going in that.
Every insider will be wearing pillbox hats this fashion month, guaranteed.
The only designer bag I care about at the moment, in case anyone was wondering.
My co-worker Eliza Huber tromps all around NYC in these, so I know they're quality. Now that the burgundy pair is sub-$100, I'm buying it immediately.
I basically live in interesting knits like this in January and February.
I'm stocking up on all the cool tights like my life depends on it. (My body temperature does.)
