This Cult Coat Elevates Every Outfit, and It's Just Come Back in Stock

Every so often, an item comes along in the fashion world that steals the hearts of editors, influencers and celebs alike and then pretty quickly ends up gaining cult status. Frankie Shop seems to have a particular knack for creating these pieces we all want to wear; you only need to look at its ever-popular quilted jacketwide-leg trousers or crisp shirts for proof. And although these are undeniably "trendy” pieces, unlike the fleeting It buys of the past, Frankie Shop sets itself apart by creating covetable items that are classic and wearable, ready to live in your wardrobe for years to come. The padded jacket, for instance, is in its third year of success and has arguably become a wardrobe staple by now.

Since it’s clear you all love The Frankie Shop’s elevated basics as much as we do, we thought you might like to know that after selling out on the brand’s website earlier this year, its latest hero item—the oversized, masculine-cut, utterly desirable John coat has just been restocked at Net-a-Porter for the season ahead. We’re talking about a beautifully tailored wool coat that looks like it came straight out of the late ’80s, early ’90s (no bad thing) and comes in an array of timeless colours. Turns out it’s not just every editor on theBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing team that’s fallen hard for it, either. We haven’t been able to scroll on Instagram lately without seeing the chicest women on our feeds styling it up as part of their transitional wardrobes, and we kept spotting it repeatedly on the streets of LFW last week.

No surprises there, since it’s clear you can throw this coat over even the most "boring” jeans and T-shirt outfit and make it instantly look good. Oversized coats are having a moment in this regard, with stars from Kendall to Gigi seen using them to elevate their basics recently. So if you’ve been searching for the perfect one to invest in, or you’re looking for a way to make all your existing outfits exciting again, take our advice and don’t sleep on the John coat.
