This Gucci Collection Is So Exclusive, There's Only A Few Hundred Pieces
As if Gucci wasn’t already art, the brand just launched a new collection that confirms it. #GucciHallucination is an online-only line of t-shirts and sweatshirts that feature the work of artist Ignasi Monreal. Like a piece of artwork, each piece is individually numbered—and there is an extremely limited amount available.
Each item features a surreal Gucci-themed illustration by the Spanish artist, and each one is as amazing as the next. Drawing inspiration from other artwork like Bosch’s "The Garden of Earthly Delights" and Millais’s portrait of Ophelia, the illustrations cheekily reimagine the scenes adorned in Gucci.
The fit of the sweatshirts and tees is unisex, and there are only 100-200 pieces of each design. Considering that demand for these will undoubtedly be high, and men and women alike will be fighting for the rare few, we're betting that everything will sell out quickly. We’re just saying: If you want to get in on it, don’t hesitate.
If you’re someone who’s swayed by the finer details, take note. Each item “ will be delivered in special edition packaging depicting digital illustrations from the Spring Summer 2018 campaign,” Gucci shares. Along with a dedicated label, these pieces are about as close to wearable fine art as you could get.
We already loved the bright colour trend that’s been happening in 2018, but to see Gucci use the concept as a springboard for this collection has confirmed that our instincts were correct. By incorporating classical art (and their signature quirk) into one of this season’s big trends, Gucci has made the look even more amazing than we had imagined it could be. Alas, isn’t that what Gucci does best though? We can always count on the brand to bring something refreshing to the table, no matter how redundant trends can start to feel—so thank you, Gucci, for keeping us on our toes.
