This Is the Happiest Outfit Trend for Summer 2021
The kitchen is probably the last place you thought you’d find inspiration for spring/summer 2021 dressing. A country garden or the beach, maybe, but the kitchen? The fashion crowd, however, are looking to their fruit bowls for colour trends this season, it seems. We’re all fed up with waiting for brighter days so fashion girls have taken matters into their own hands in the last few weeks, letting their wardrobes do the talking.
As the new summer collections have started to drop recently across designer and high-street lines, colour is suddenly the most exciting new trend—a welcome respite from the sea of beige and browns we’ve been seeing all over street style for the last couple of seasons. It’s no surprise, really, as everyone from Jacquemus (who could forget that candy coloured Provençal catwalk) and Gucci to Tibi and Emilia Wickstead sent a foray of fruity shades down the runways last fashion month and there’s been a frenzy of colour combo experimentation ever since.
From lemon yellow to apple green and the surprisingly flattering tangerine orange, be prepared to get zesty this season. And if you happen to be a colour-phobe, there’s no need to fear, as the trend is easier to wear than you might think. Pick one statement piece in a block colour, add it into your current wardrobe and pair it with clean basics. If you’re on the braver end of the spectrum, double up on one colour head-to-toe like Grece Ghanem, or mix and match them, as seen at last year's London Fashion Week.
Ahead, shop the best new in brights and get ahead of the game (and the weather)…
