When you're running a lifestyle empire, you've got to have a top-notch morning routine—people would expect nothing less. We're happy to report that FabFitFun co-founder Katie Echevarria Rosen Kitchens's mornings are definitely something to aspire to. She manages to work on emails, help her young daughters get ready, feed everyone breakfast, and fit in her skincare and makeup routine—all in three hours. Phew.
Take a look at how she gets her mornings started below:
5:00 a.m.
I wake up between 5 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. every morning. I am definitely a morning person—no alarm clock needed. My girls are still asleep. My husband is currently working in San Diego during the workweek, so I have 30 minutes of just me.
I immediately head downstairs, straight for the coffee machine. I love those 30 minutes when the house is quiet and still—it's usually the only time this house is ever quiet.
Coffee in hand, I check emails and jump into the FabFitFun community. Our online community is pretty amazing—members are on the forums day and night talking boxes, products and really forming friendships. It's an amazing way to get direct feedback on the daily. I'll scroll the most recent threads and answer a handful of questions.
6:00 a.m.
Around 6 a.m. I usually hear the patter of two sets of small feet charging down the stairs. The girls immediately go to Google and request a song. Right now Ava Max’s "Sweet But Psycho” is on heavy rotation. There's a little bit of karaoke and dance moves as I make the girls breakfast and pack lunch boxes.
After some mix of brown bread, yogurt, fruit, and cereal we all head upstairs to get ready. My 6-year-old has her routine down (which has been life-changing!), but my 4-year-old still needs a bit of help. After teeth and hair brushing, the girls head downstairs for coloring and Legos while I get ready.
7:00 a.m.
I take showers and baths at night to help alleviate some of the morning time crunch stress. I also get weekly in-home blowouts from Glamsquad, which is a huge time saver. With the help of a Dafni hot brush, a little Oribe Dry Shampoo, and a nice dose of Marrakesh Oil, my blowout can last almost a week.
I've definitely turned into a bit of a skincare junkie thanks to FabFitFun! I try everything that goes into our boxes, and my favorites become part of my morning routine. It changes quite a bit, but my current rotation includes ExfoliKate, NassifMD Detox Pads, Murad Hydro-Dynamic Eye Cream, and Tula Kefir Moisture Repair mixed with Cosmedix Pure C. All finished with Vegabrow, as I did pluck out about 90% of my eyebrows in the '90s.
My makeup routine is crazy-fast, considering there are quite a few steps: Nars foundation, Tarte Tarteist ProGlow for a little contour and highlight, Laura Mercier Color Infusion in Chai, Too Faced's new Sweet Peach shadows, Ciaté London's Fierce Flicks felt liner, and Bite lipstick in Chai.
7:20 a.m.
Twenty minutes later I am back downstairs with the girls. These mornings can be crazy stressful but I wouldn't change them for the world. The world of e-comm never really shuts off, and I travel a fair amount for work, so I feel incredibly lucky to be able to spend these small moments with my girls.
We pack up our bags and out we go. Since my husband works out of town during the week, I depend heavily on my parents and our nanny to make it all work (thank you!). Most mornings I meet my dad at a restaurant down the street and drop my younger daughter with him. They will go in, get a muffin (double breakfast!), and chat with all of the regulars before he takes her to preschool. I head the opposite direction with my older daughter. First graders have a lot to say, and it's a nice moment where I get filled in on what's going on in her life.
8:00 a.m.
Then it's off to work where, together with the team, we work to deliver happiness and well-being to all of our members (over a million at this point!) around the world.
