How British Girls Wear the Most Posh French Classic
Any recent set of street style images can prove it: Chanel's bouclé jackets, while never out of style, are particularly in fashion's good books right now. First introduced to womankind in 1954 by Coco Chanel, this tweed piece has been reinvented umpteen times not only in its design but also how girls choose to wear it.
Once upon a time, they were the ultimate partner to an equally prim and neat bouclé skirt. But the most modern, and most British way, to style one out can be taken from Poppy Delevingne's look last night. While in L.A. for a Chanel dinner (celebrating the Gabrielle bag—a style we'd already earmarked as "the one" for 2017) the London model showcased the perfect formula for making this ladylike classic look new. With the simple exclusion of a top underneath and the addition of baggy, ripped jeans with the two-tone Chanel pumps everyone continues to drool over, this meeting of smart and casual couldn't be easier to replicate—even if you don't have Karl Lagerfeld on speed dial.
