This Autumn Legging Trend Is—Hallelujah—Really Flattering

I'm not an advocate of leggings per se, but in the name of fashion research, I have trialled enough of them to become something of a connoisseur (you can see the results of my search for the best black leggings here). So when a new legging iteration rears its stretchy head, and it looks like it could be more flattering than your average, I pay attention.

We know that there are clever fabrics that suck and tuck, but what about a style that can slim without cutting off your circulation? Well then, you'll want to try some ruched leggings then. They sound terrifying and indisputably linked to the 1980s, but when one of London's leading new designers puts her stamp of approval on them—Molly Goddard's pretty party dresses have been styled over them for A/W 17—then you know there's some fashion mileage to be travelled by those in the know.

Ruching—no matter whether in dress, skirt or legging form—is a genius thing when it comes to covering any lumps and bumps one may feel acutely aware of. Combine that with the power of a slimming pair of black skinnies, alongside the fact that the Olsen twins have created a leather version for their luxe label, The Row, and you have yourself a viable new pair of trousers for autumn.
