Lauren Chan

Editor in Residence

Lauren Chan (she/her) is a Canadian model, editor, and entrepreneur known for her work to make the fashion industry more inclusive regarding size diversity, 2SLGBTQ+ voices, and AAPI representation.

During the formative years of her career, Chan was an industry-leading fashion editor at Glamour, where she was considered integral to the rise of body diversity in media. The American Society of Magazine Editors summarized her time in publishing best when they awarded her a coveted Next Award and described her as a one-woman, multimedia age force for change.

She later left publishing to launch her own fashion brand, Henning, which made ethical, luxury, plus-size clothing in New York City. In its exclusive launch coverage, Vogue said Chan addressed the complexities of fashion's relationship with size early in her career, and her womenswear brand is taking things a step further. In 2023, Henning was acquired by Universal Standard, making her one of few emerging designers to sell their brand.

Thereafter, Chan transitioned into entertainment by making history as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit's first lesbian cover model. The moment garnered the attention of the world, with a total of 20 million global press impressions to date. Since then, Chan has been working as a TV personality, appearing on series including Canada's Drag Race and The Social as a guest host, eTalk as a red carpet correspondent and junket reporter, Good Morning America as a contributor, and The Traitors Canada as a contestant.
