The Chic But Unassuming Accessory I've Spotted on the Style Set This Summer
The hat trend I've seen celebs and influencers adopt this summer season.

You may have your basket bag, flip-flops and beaded jewellery packed and ready to go for your next trip, but perhaps you have forgotten one last staple item—a summer hat. This season, I have spotted celebs and influencers alike sporting 2025's variation on the theme, which is neat, slim-line and compact, all great features for throwing it in your carry-on suitcase before you beeline for the BA lounge.
Laura Vidrequin Roso wearing a navy woven straw hat on holiday in Formentera, paired with a patterned triangle bikini and striped tote bag.
Woven straw, raffia buckets and soft crochet hat styles are seriously trending, but are veering away from the oversized and XXL variations we have come to associate with summer stylings of yesteryear, in favour of small brims, neat shapes and ear-grazing silhouettes. These are not show-stopping or head-turning styles by any means; these hats are wealth-whispering, delicate and chic. Not only that, but they keep your scalp, skin and eyes protected against the harsh summer sun. With all the heatwaves that the UK and Europe has experienced lately, I too am in the market for a practical but pretty summer hat like this.

You know something has all the hallmarks of a classic but cool trend when perennial fashion icon Alexa Chung dons the look too. She opts for a woven crochet short-brimmed hat in monochromatic black and has been spotted wearing it on the daily, galivanting from Glasto to Positano. Kendall Jenner too has been wearing a mid-sized brimmed raffia hat whilst sunbathing in California, teaming hers with a minimal, simple black bikini.

Zoë Foster Brown wearing a woven raffia short-brimmed hat, whilst on holiday in the South of France. She pairs it with a knee-length white sleeveless dress and mesh ballet flats.
