Glossier Just Launched a New Makeup Brand, and I Want Everything

Just over a week ago, Glossier took to Instagram to drop the mysterious news that it would be launching a new brand in March 2019. Named Glossier Play, the brand has been building the tension daily with cryptic Instagram posts featuring the Glossier's logo reincarnated in a disco-ball print one day and a red lacquered finish the next. "After two years in the making, we can't wait for you to see, touch, hear, swatch, and play with what's to come," was the only official statement released by Glossier.

Of course, the beauty sphere immediately went into absolute meltdown, with guesses about what the new brand might be ranging wildly from sex toys to homeware. But finally, the wait is over, and I'm so excited to discover that Glossier Play is a new brand of colourful makeup. The launch consists of four key products; Colorslide, a gel eyeliner pencil; Vinylic Lip, a high-shine lacquer; Niteshine, a pearlescent highlighter; and Glitter Gelée, a multidimensional sparkle-filled gel.

I'm a huge fan of Glossier but have never felt that its "skin is in" approach to makeup has truly worked that well for me. Unless you're still blessed with the complexion you had as a 7-year-old (baby-soft, plump and without a pore in sight), its makeup offering can lack the coverage and staying power you might be looking for.

Glossier Play seems different; like the cool (dare I say it) slightly more fun sister of the original brand. Glossier announced, "You'll find colours you've never seen before, luxurious textures that move with you, and products that breath excitement back into your makeup routine." Needless to say, I'm sold.

Vinylic Lip High-Shine Lacquer

I love a good lip product, and this one looks right up my street (particularly, the shade Baby, a true pillar-box red). Described as a high-shine lacquer in an easy-to-use click pen format, I'm hoping this will satisfy my current obsession with lip gloss and my need for pigment.

Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate

When it comes to highlighters, Glossier already does one of my favourite formulas—Haloscope. While that lends skin a dewy, natural-looking gleam, these new launches from Glossier Play look a whole lot more intense and could potentially be my new go-to glow for a night out.

Glitter Gelée Multigrade Paillettes

Coined as a one-step glitter gel that creates an instant multidimensional jewelled effect, these little pots of sparkle immediately appeal to my inner magpie. I think they're going to look pretty special pressed messily onto eyelids for a cool-girl approach to glitter.

Colorslide High Shine Lacquer

Coloured eye shadows and eyeliners are finally having a major moment in 2019, so I'm not surprised to see this rainbow of eye pencils in the mix. These are gel formulas that claim to last all day and all night. My oily eyelids will be the judge of that.
