Meghan Markle Just Changed Into Her Favourite Fashion Trend Again

Following an incredibly busy schedule of 76 engagements during her whirlwind Australia and Fiji tour, Meghan Markle's official royal duties—and the outfits that go with them—have really ramped up since she married Harry earlier this year in May.

The Duchess of Sussex has attended many an engagement in-between these major moments and established a classic, understated and simplistic style that never lets her down. A little Audrey Hepburn, a little Clare Underwood (seriously, see what we mean here), the newly appointed Duchess of Sussex calls upon the same useful, flattering, versatile, well-made items time and again.

What I appreciate the most is that from these seemingly "plain" ensembles is that a hidden message is often within. Whether that's highlighting a sustainable brand, supporting a young talent or paying respects to the location she might be visiting by wearing a local brand, Markle's fashion decisions are carefully considered.

Today's outfit for Remembrance Sunday was no exception to this rule. A buttoned-up, fashionable austere coat with a tight rectangular neckline was a very as well as what she wore for last night's Festival of Remembrance. Following last night's other black coat—a sweet satin bow-fronted Stella McCartney piece she has previously worn—we think Meghan's attention to detail may just put the alternative black coat back on the map, after many seasons of designers favouring leopard-print, pink or red.

Online commentators are speculating that this cap-sleeved style is based on a Givenchy Haute Couture coat, and they are right (to a point). We can confirm that this look was custom made by Givenchy and designed by Clare Waight Keller.
