Hailey Bieber and Alexa Chung Wore Wedding Dresses to the Met Gala
If you were one of the many brides-to-be who had to postpone their weddings due to COVID, let this be the one upside to delaying your big day, especially if you also held off on buying *the* dress. On the steps of tonight's Met Gala, where the biggest names in fashion come together in gowns that will be talked about for decades (no really, they will be), Hailey Bieber arrived in what can only be described as the wedding dress of our dreams. And she wasn't the only one.
For the annual event, Bieber, who wore custom Off-White to her actual wedding in 2019, chose a white, silk slip dress by Saint Laurent that was inspired by an Yves Saint Laurent gown worn by supermodel Jerry Hall on the runway at the designer's spring 2002 Haute Couture retrospective show in Paris. With the slip, both Hall and Bieber wore a feather-trimmed shawl perfectly fit for a bride in 2022.
No worries if slip dresses aren't what you had in mind for your big day, though. There were plenty of other bridal-esque ensembles at the 2022 Met Gala for you to consider, from Cynthia Erivo's sheer lace Louis Vuitton drop-waist gown to Paloma Elsesser's ivory-colored Coach bustier and sheer skirt, there was a wedding dress for every bridal aesthetic on the red carpet this year, all of which would just as easily stun at a modern-day wedding as they would way back when in the Gilded Age (maybe with a few minor tweaks).
