Zara Wants Us to Wear Leggings in the Strangest Way This Fall
It might only be July, but Zara's F/W 18 collection has already started hitting stores. Among the Friends T-shirts and knitted skirts, we've noticed a rather unlikely leggings styling trick: The models are all wearing a pair of simple black leggings underneath their outfits. Many of them also have on backless pointed mules. Perhaps it's the witchy flats or the extreme layering, but I think if you add a venti-sized black coffee, an ankle-skimming coat, and some oversize sunglasses, you'd look like a long-lost Olsen sister. The likes of Balenciaga and The Row have similar pant-length black leggings, indicating that perhaps they are about to become an essential base layer for the fashion crowd.
Does our own fashion team think this could take off? "There are very few leggings and legging trends that I'm genuinely on board with from a fashion perspective (sorry), but this one has me more confused than most," saysBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK's editorial director, Hannah Almassi. "What I do know is that, in general, where Zara leads many often follow—so once the heat wave is over, could we really see girls layering leggings under things again? Quite possibly. Many other hated fashion trends manage to make successful comebacks."
Joy Montgomery,Best Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK acting assistant editor, can imagine giving these a go. "Out of all the atrocities fashion has delivered in its long history, this is not really the worst trend. No, it’s not the most elegant-looking styling hack, but when winter comes around, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to giving this a go (famous last words)," she says. If you can imagine trying this outfit come coat season, keep scrolling to shop the look.
