Glossier Spent Two Years Creating the Perfect Hand Cream—and It's Finally Here
Historically, we've referred to every single launch from Glossier as "important." Each new formula feels more innovative, exciting, and buzz-generating than the last, and certain products like Boy Brow ($16) and Balm Dotcom ($12) have become nonnegotiable inclusions in the kits of everyone we know—from family members to makeup artists to fellow beauty editors. Another thing we love? Glossier actually listens to its legion of fans, internalizing customer feedback into existing and future formulas and prioritizing specific product requests from its overwhelming fan base.
Interestingly, Glossier's loyal followers have been begging the brand for a Glossier hand cream for years, and the brand, with open ears and perfectionistic formulating tendencies, has spent nearly two years concocting the ultimate formula. (Think lush ingredients, a "second skin" finish, and a speedy, five-second absorption time.) Of course, no one could have expected the final product launch would come at such a pivotal time when high-demand products like hand cream and hand sanitizer are conjuring record-tall request rates.
Normally, the first samples of a highly anticipated Glossier debut would be dispersed to editors, influencers, and other important people within the beauty industry to test and review pre-launch. But given the current circumstances, Glossier took the initiative to prioritize all of the hospital and healthcare workers who really, truly need an amazing hand cream right now and donated the first 10,000 units to help support those on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response. (The brand has also donated thousands of other skin-saving products like its Balm Dotcom, Priming Moisturizer, and Soothing Face Mist.)
That said, today is the product's official launch, and now you (and everyone else craving Glossier-approved chap prevention) can get your hands on it.
"Our Hand Cream's nutrient-rich formula hits the sweet spot between a lotion and a crème—it absorbs quickly (about 5 seconds, to be exact) and gives a sheer-touch finish that won't leave fingerprints or residue behind," explains an official press release from the brand. It also boasts a unique "second skin" matrix to keep skin-stressors at bay and far, far away from highly susceptible hands.
The formula's hero ingredients include dreamy additions like meadowfoam seed oil and coconut fruit extract to add and seal in moisture while ultra-soothing botanical extracts from echinacea and rosemary keep your skin calm, cool, and collected. (No matter how many times you're washing your hands within a 24-hour time span.) Plus, true to Glossier form, the hand cream is dermatologist-tested, cruelty-free, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, nut-free, GMO-free, and suitable for all skin types.
To further separate the cream from the litany of other hand cream formulas on the market right now, Glossier topped off its carefully executed recipe with a special scent that's reminiscent of the brand's cult-loved, musky fragrance, Glossier You ($60), which, the brand says, was slightly reimagined specifically for the hands. (Think a more clarified, less perfumy emphasis on fresh, clean notes.)
Last but not least, let's talk about packaging. With utility and convenience top of mind, the cream is handily piped into a palm-friendly (recyclable!) pack complete with an ergonomic flip top, 360-degree squeeze, and precise nozzle applicator to ensure the perfect ratio of product dispersal. As the cherry on top, the mood-boosting container is coated in Glossier's signature candy apple red and peppercorn pink.
PS: Glossier was already ahead of the game, read your skincare shopping
inclined mind, and created another bundled option buy featuring the brand-new Hand Cream ($18), the Priming Moisturizer Rich ($35) (makeup artists go wild for this stuff), and the eye- and lip-plumping double-hitter Bubblewrap ($26). Coined The Comfort Collection, it's a timely, limited-edition set you can nab for $65 ($14 less than what you'd pay buying all three best sellers separately).
