"Sunglasses and a great pair of heels can turn around most outfits." Sage words from the queen of pulling a look together, Victoria Beckham. The designer once confirmed what we'd always suspected: Chooseth the correct accessories and ye shall find fashion greatness. Truth is, sunglasses are one of those small but not inconsequential additions that we often overlook in favour of the big, flashy stuff. It's easy to get wrapped up in finding a new-season designer bag or working out how to revamp last winter's coat, overlooking how a pair of frames—ideally do wonders for your face, building cheekbones and whatnot—can be a game changer.

I've got more sunglasses than I care to tell you and it's for this reason: Every single style comes back into fashion again, so I never, ever get rid unless they really don't suit my face shape (in which case, more fool me for buying them in the first place). New eyewear trends can feel like one-season wonders at the time, but I have historical proof that this isn't the case at all.

So, if you're like me, you'll have some of the classics ticked already (cat eye, aviator, etc.), which explains why I've chosen a few more adventurous, and more up-to-date winter sunglasses to share with you instead. Goes without saying that the fashion police won't arrest you for wearing these in summer, but as that morning and evening sun makes you squint on your way back and forth to work, now's a good time to invest.

Keep reading to see the best winter sunglasses and eyewear trends to shop now.
