When you're blessed with having a job that means you spend at least part of your time shopping for a living, you see a lot of stuff. However, as editors for a fashion website, we often spend time working out what is and what isn't worth your cash. Right now, that feels more important to get right, what with budgets being tighter and customers wanting pieces that work harder for them. It's no wonder consumers want longer-lasting items that still nod to trends but aren't defined by them. There's no denying that it can be a tricky couple of criteria to fill.
But as I already mentioned, as fashion insiders, this is what we do. For this month, I asked several of our editors what's on their shopping lists for autumn. It's worth mentioning that we live in different parts of the world, so some pieces might be a little too summery for the colder British weather. That said, you'll get some great inspo for the later summer months, so really, it's a win-win.
Among the items our editors picked were fun two-pieces, chic knitwear and plenty of leather. There are also some sandals and skirts creeping in for those early autumnal days that still don't require warmer clothing. Keep scrolling for our editors' autumn 2021 shopping picks.
Another day, another brown thing I want to buy. I can't help it. It's my colour! This co-ord set from Stories is oh so chic yet really easy to wear.

Striped Farmers Market Bag Shopper Bag Eco Friendly Recycled
I've come to the conclusion that 99% of my current handbag collection isn't useful for my lifestyle! I just need a throw-it-all-in and don't-worry-about-it-getting-destroyed kind of market bag, and this fits the bill.
Louisa Parris
Simone Striped Silk Crepe De Chine Midi Dress
Loose-fitting dresses are a new addition to my closet, but when they're cut well, drape nicely and aren't too heavy, they can still suit a petite hourglass frame like mine. I have one from Louisa Parris, and it's proving to be a piece I go back to time and again.
Raíz
Cedro Tan
I have had a pair of these slightly retro, environmentally friendly wedges in tan for over a week now and worn them SO much already. It wouldn't be crazy to get another pair in a different colour. I often do this with shoes, as I find comfy ones so hard to pin down.
I love a good shirt, and this co-ord really embraces the timeless charm of the pinstripe. It has my name written all over it.

Ziggy Striped Crochet-Knit Sweater
This autumn's homespun trend ticks all my boxes and is perfectly captured in this Sea crocheted rainbow knit.

Albizia Printed Cotton Mini Wrap Skirt
Micro miniskirts are a huge trend for autumn, and I absolutely love the retro print on this one. Pair it with a white cotton shirt plus ballet pumps, and you’ve got yourself *a look.*

An example of the perfect white shirt to pair with the skirt above.

My collection of leather jackets is already overflowing, but there's no way I'm passing up a jacket this special. Those buttons!
Jacquemus
Le Ciuciu Leather Shoulder Bag
No one does covetable bags quite like Jacquemus. This new exaggerated baguette shape (which you might have also spotted on the runway) feels undeniably fresh.
