6 Stylish European Women Have Spoken —These are Their Style Secrets
Oftentimes it takes being fully immersed in a new place to fully observe the nuances of style. This never runs truer than when in Europe, a smorgasbord, if you will, of sartorial delights spanning climates and cultures. Danish style is best known for its nonchalance and slouched silhouettes, whereas Gallic women prefer a typically feminine touch, so expect to find off-duty basic and layering pieces on polished basics. Across Portugal, you'll find pops of colour and Copengagen, slouched silhouttes. Although I was assured of my sense of style when moving to Paris, it's metamorphosised even further and I have Paris' inhabitants to thank. Although a sense of style can feel paramount to identity, I think we should leave enough space for it to waver slightly and be inspired by our surroundings—people, climates and lifestyle. I've realised exactly why European women are known for their polished style, and it has to do with their reliance on timeless pieces. Each day, I take note of the clothing choices of European women. With this in mind, I caught up with 6 chic European women, to talk wishlists, inspirations and styling tips, to further perpetuate this cycle of inspiration. Take note!
1. Nnenna Chem
Oslo, Norway
What is the one piece of fashion advice you've been given and now live by?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Fashion is about finding your personal style, and having fun while doing so.
What's your number one styling tip?
Less is more, and if it makes you feel good, wear it!
What's your favourite capsule wardrobe piece?
As I live in Scandinavia, I would have to say that my black wool coat from Source Unknown is a piece I can use in three out of four seasons. I also have a Cashmere top from Madeleine Thompson that makes up almost every outfit.

What is the one piece of fashion advice you've been given and now live by?
Invest in timeless pieces and quality over quantity!
What's you number one styling tip?
Always choose an outfit that flatters your figure rather than necessarily following trends : a colour, a shape, a length, a fabric… It’s all in the details but this will definitely affect your self-confidence and elevate your look!
Favourite capsule wardrobe piece?
Right now, it's a mock neck or turtleneck top/sweater that I can put under everything with a choker on the top! I’m obsessed with superposition !

3. Franny Monzemba
Paris, France
What is the one piece of fashion advice you were given that you now apply?
It’s all about investing in quality basics. By choosing timeless and well-constructed pieces, you can create a multitude of looks while remaining stylish.
What is your number one style tip?
Focus on fit. No matter how good or stylish a piece of clothing is, if it doesn’t fit well, it can look sloppy. Choosing clothes that flatter your figure is essential for a polished and confident appearance.
What is your favourite capsule wardrobe piece?
The classic white shirt is a must-have because it’s versatile and timeless. It can be worn in various ways: with trousers for a professional look, casually under a jumper or paired with a skirt for a night out. It works for almost any occasion.

4. Noora Vesterinen
Helsinki, Finland
What is the one piece of fashion advice you've been given and now live by?
Buy less and buy vintage. It’s simple, but it shifts the way you engage with clothing. Instead of chasing trends, refine your eye and build a wardrobe that is an extension of your identity. When you invest in pieces that resonate with you, re-wearing them isn’t repetitive—it reinforces your personal brand and shows you trust your own taste.
What's your number one styling tip?
Leave your bag at home if possible. How luxurious! Walking out the door with only the essentials in your pockets is a bigger statement than any luxury bag.
What's your favourite capsule wardrobe piece?
A long, ankle-length coat is my signature. It adds structure to the simplest outfits.

5. Charlotte Illidge
London, England
What is the one piece of fashion advice you've been given and now live by?
As a fashion designer myself, there’s a lot of influence I take from the industry but the two best pieces of advice are both from my Mom! 1. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Wearing things in an ‘unconventional’ way and standing out really isn’t a bad thing! It’s what makes you who you are! 2. Wear what you feel best in! If that’s a suit, your favourite jeans or a dress you found in a vintage store - don’t save it for a special occasion. If it makes you feel incredible, wear it!
What's your number one styling tip?
I love finding wardrobe staples with a twist, so to speak. A lot of the pieces I own are great foundational pieces so, I love to encourage people to add interest by playing around with textures and tones.
Favourite capsule wardrobe piece?
It holds huge sentimental value to me so, it has to be my suede jacket from The Kooples. It’s a classic biker shape, in a gorgeous faded tan colour.
