Looking at These 31 Blonde Bobs Made Me Cut My Hair

Laura Pearson
Being experimental with your hair doesn't necessarily mean that you have to go all-out with new hues, statement fringing or lashings of layers. Often, the simplest switches make the most impact. Right now, with the changing season, it seems everyone is busy mood boarding potential styles—and bobs in particular.
As changing your hair can be a big decision, I thought it might be worth sharing my recent experience in hope it might inspire some of you. You see, I recently chopped off my lengthy blonde hair to join the short hairstyle/long bob brigade. A few months back, after researching for a feature on blunt bob hairstyles, I convinced myself to go for the chop, which was masterfully created by session stylist Jenn Linton of Linton Mac.
My new blonde bob makes its debut.
And guess what? I've found it to be one of the best decisions I've made this year. Not only does my new blonde bob take half the drying time that it used to, but somehow, it also makes everything I wear look significantly cooler.
I'm not the only one who sings the blonde bob's praises. Keep scrolling to see the best blonde bob hairstyles on influencers and A-listers alike.

The Best Styling Tips for a Blonde Bob
All of that inspo got me thinking about styling and maintaining a blonde bob, so I chatted with a few expert hair stylists—Andrew Barton of The House of Keune by Bloom, celebrity colourist Kris Barnes and founder of Wiig Anna Wiig—to get their advice on how to keep this style looking its best.
Wiig says, "The bob trend right now is very ‘undone’, requiring little effort and looking unstructured. I’d recommend using products that have a little grip to achieve this. If you're lucky enough to have wavy hair naturally, you can try air drying to keep this intact. For us flat and finer hair types, we need more help, so try using a curling tong."
For a straight style, Barnes recommends keeping your look current by "finishing with a shine spray to give that glass hair look".
How To Care for a Blonde Bob
Barton says that blonde bobs of all types are "best looked after with regular trims". He also advises that blonde hair needs a little extra care to guarantee shine and avoid unwanted yellow tones. "Try an in-salon or at-home colour toner," he says if you want to keep that blonde fresh and glossy.
Regular cuts are also recommended. "[This will] help keep the shape of the bob fresh and stop split ends from travelling up the hair shaft. Bobs can grow out quickly," says Wiig, who is also an advocate of colour toner to keep blonde hair looking its best.
What Face Shapes Suit a Blonde Bob?
"A bob can suit many face shapes, but it’s your personal style that you need to consider while deciding what kind of bob to go for. I would say the classic bob suits oval or heart shaped faces, and for someone with a more square face, I would recommend a shorter bob style. For a rounder face shape I would always recommend a slightly longer bob," says Barnes.
It's worth remembering that a bob be tailored to a person's face shape with both the cut and the styling. Barton advises that long faces "best suit fuller styled bobs e.g. a flicky feathered cuts, curls or waves". For round faces he suggests "a little lift and height on top—perhaps tucked behind the ear and cut with soft, seamless layers to give a little volume and lift. For square faces, feathered bobs with soft delicate pieces around the face and worn a little ruffled is always a winner."
The Best Products To Maintain Your Blonde Bob
Redken's bond-restoring set will keep coloured hair healthy and prolong the life of your colour.
This leave-in treatment hair mask "clinically reverses damage in four minutes," says Barnes.
This shampoo helps to prevent your blonde hair from turning brassy between salon visits.
This mask repairs and strengthens the hair, and adds moisture. Barton recommends using it every time you wash your hair.
A purple shampoo to remove unwanted brassy tones from blonde hair. Barnes says this stuff "does this in just one wash and strengthens hair bonds".
This vegan toning treatment from Wiig removes brassy and yellow tones, whilst also repairing hair structure and protecting against future damage.
