Nail Techs Say These Winter Nail Trends Are About to Take Off

We're fully into the winter swing, and naturally, we want to know what winter nail trends will take the season by storm. We love timeless nail colours that will see us through autumn and winter. However, with the party season just on the horizon, we're also turning towards party nail designs to help us get into the festivities.

This time of the year is ideal to experiment with moodier shades that we might not naturally turn to during the summer months. I personally love the classy deep red and brown hues that crop up on my social feeds at this time of the year. Not only are they universally flattering for every skin tone, but they add an instant classy look to your nails, whatever length they may be. They also work for both daytime and evening, so it's a great option for when you face the inevitable colour indecision at the salon. (Anyone else get a bit overwhelmed by the colour choice?)

I wanted to find out which winter nail trends will be taking over for 2022, so I reached out to nail technicians at Townhouse nail salons to find out the colours and designs that beauty lovers are booking in for right now. Get ready to get your nail tech on the phone.

1. Deep Reds

According to Townhouse's nail technicians, mulled winter reds have been incredibly popular in its nail salons. Nailberry's Le Temps des Cerises is one of the most requested shades of the season. And it's perhaps no surprise; this timeless and classy nail shade comes back around season after season and will always make your fingertips look elevated. It will take you from desk to party effortlessly.

2. Gilded Gold Accents

As the party season approaches, it's only natural that we want the sparkle and glitz on our nails too. Townhouse is seeing gilded accents being requested in its salons, and it really is a versatile trend. You can opt for some negative-space nail art on your usual neutral nail colour base of choice to take your mani into the party season.

3. Alternative French

The French tip has been turned on its head, and Townhouse is seeing this angular French manicure being requested in its salons. There are so many ways to wear this trend with clashing or complementary colours, like this white-and-silver design. If you're re-creating this trend at home, then a fine-tipped nail brush is essential for getting crisp lines.

4. Glazed Nails

The "glazed donut" nail is continuing to have a hold on our nails for winter, with many booking in for chrome powder nails. I personally love these glazed French tips, but the chrome powder works well with any nail colour shade that takes your fancy. This effect is best done in the salon with gel polish (which grips the chrome powder). However, there are also shimmering polishes that will give you a similar effect at home if you can't make it to the salon.

5. Frosted Pearl

The frosted pearl is the low-key sister to the glazed nail look above but is proving popular at Townhouse. It's subtler but has just enough shimmer for a wintry party mood. We love this winter white look, but it would also look beautiful in deep brown hues.
