I’m what you would call a jeans person, and I daren’t even admit to you how many I’ve accumulated over the years in my search for the perfect pair. In my opinion, you just can’t beat an outfit that consists of a crisp white shirt or T-shirt and a pair of classic jeans. My collection does include some investment designer styles that I swear by—Re/Done’s Stove Pipe and Agolde’s popular Pinch Waist, for example. But I take particular pleasure in the challenge of finding really good jeans on the high street. I have soft spots for M&S’s comfortable styles and Weekday’s high-quality stiff denim, but H&M is one brand that I know will always come through. With a new season underway, I headed out to try on the brand's latest best sellers, and I came away seriously impressed.
Honestly, I was blown away by the variety of on-trend cuts that ticked every box from skinny to wide-leg, as well as the fits. Most pairs ran exactly true to size (if they didn’t, I’ve made a note below), with just enough stretch in them to flatter in all the right places. For reference, I tend to wear a size 10 and am 5'2".

Style Notes: I have to say I fell hard for these jeans, and it’s no surprise they’re one of H&M’s best-selling styles right now. I’ve been searching for the perfect wide-leg, full-length jeans for a while, and I think I’ve finally found them. I rarely wear lighter washes in jeans, but this pair has completely changed my mind. Once again, this pair fit perfectly, so take your regular size.

2. Slim Straight High Ankle Jeans
Style Notes: If you’re a skinny-jean fan looking for an update, I’d suggest the slim high-waist pair, which is a super-flattering, figure-hugging style that still has a slightly looser ankle for wearing over ankle boots, flats and loafers for spring. Here I took my regular size, and they fit like a dream. There's a slight stretch too for added comfort.

Style Notes: Barrel silhouettes have been a main player since the start of the year, and it looks like their popularity is only rising. From tailoring to jeans, the cut is striking, and H&M leans into the boldness of the silhouette. I took my regular size here, and they were slightly looser. You could size down or embrace the added comfort.

4. Slim Mom High Ankle Jeans
Style Notes: Unlike standard mom jeans, which can often be unflattering and baggy in the wrong places, this slimmer design is really impressive as an easy, everyday style. They fit true to size (I took my regular size 10) and are surprisingly comfortable.

Style Notes: With the success of the Wide High Jeans, this pair mimics the sleek long length and wide leg silhouette, this time with a mid-rise waistline. Personally, I preferred the rise of this pair but I'm still a fan of the high option too. Here I took my regular size (10) and they fit like a dream. This pair has a button closure instead of a zip.

6. Flared Low Jeans
Style Notes: Flared jeans have been on the rise recently and pairing the cut with a low waist makes for an incredibly cool pair of jeans. I was surprised at how much I liked these jeans, having not embraced the cut in such a long time. This was the only pair that fit a little snug, so I'd recommend sizing up for a perfect fit.
