Even though we’re only a few weeks into September, I’ve been in full autumn shopping mode for a while now, and the chic new arrivals just keep rolling in. My seasonal wardrobe prep has already included everything from great denim pieces to chunky knits, pretty blouses and those throw-on autumn dresses that make getting dressed so easy. And while I’d love to splurge endlessly, I’ve been focusing on my favourite high-street heroes that always deliver elevated, expensive-looking pieces at a fraction of the price.

This season, H&M, Zara and Mango are really leading the way. Mango’s Selection line in particular has caught my attention, filled with polished wool coats, buttery suede jackets and sharp tailoring that could easily be mistaken for designer. Zara is doubling down on its AW collection, with directional silhouettes, standout trench coats and investment-worthy accessories that feel well beyond their price point. H&M, too, has raised the bar, serving up glossy outerwear, wear-forever knitwear and chic day-to-night separates that have autumn layering written all over them.
From double-breasted coats and belted trench coats to leather blazers, suede jackets and barrel-leg denim, the new season drop is brimming with versatile heroes you’ll wear on repeat. Personally, I couldn’t resist adding a handful of elevated staples to my own wardrobe already—they’re the kind of “forever” finds that feel just as good with chunky boots now as they will with ballet flats later in the season.

So if, like me, you’re building a cold-weather wardrobe that looks chic without blowing the budget, keep scrolling. I’ve rounded up 25 affordable yet expensive-looking autumn buys that could easily pass for designer, from Mango, Zara and H&M’s strongest new arrivals.
